Dental care for kids, Need a new dentist for my son.
I have a HMO dental plan currently. Both my husband and I have been seeing this one dental office that is in our plan. My son is two and I thought it is a good time to make a dental appointment for him. I just found out that our dental office does not help two years old.
He will not see my son until he is five. I think that is just too long to have him wait. I do not dislike that office so I do not want to have to change providers. Can my son have his own dentist and we keep seeing the one we want to? Not sure how it would workout.

First I would call your HMO dental insurance carrier. They may let you pick a different dentist in the network for your son and still keep the one you are currently seeing for you and your husband.

My dental HMO allows for my husband and I to have different dentist as long as they are in the network. However my friend who has and HMO though a different insurance company can only have one dentist assigned to the complete family. So I guess it can very depending on the plan.
