What is the typical cost range for dental insurance

Sunday, Aug. 22nd 2010 11:16 AM

Right now I get dental an health though my current job.  However I am thinking about quitting and taking up a nanny position full time.  I will get a place to live for free and have  no real bills other then personal ones.

The thing is I have always gotten my health and dental insurance though my job so I have not idea the cost of insurance when you have to get it yourself.  I want to know if it would be worth it to me or not.

Hard to say without knowing what state you are in. However on average cost for dental insurance can range from $10 – $50 a month depending on the type of dental insurance your pick up.

Medical or health insurance is another story altogether. You would need to shop it out. You should be able to get an idea of cost base on your age and zip code. However medical insurance is normally an underwritten program. So rate can very.

I would make sure that what you want to do is not only cost effective but is something you really want to do. Live in nannies can be full time jobs with no real brakes. So make sure you know what is expected out of you.

I was a live in nanny many years ago and I would never do that again. I loved the kids but it was way to much work for very little pay.

Sure you think not having rent and utilities bills to pay makes up for a lot but really it does not. You have no life. Then little money you do get still only covers you living expenses. At least that was how things were with me.

Now I am more of a baby sitter from a set time frame M-F and it really works out well. I get full pay $11.00 an hour and have my time off to myself.

I am 35 and my health and dental cost me $350.00 a month. I am out here in California. Even so I would say it is a safe bet to make that your cost is going to be at least $200.00 or more a month depending on many factors. This is just something you are going to need to shop out.

You can do that with your dental insurance on this web site just by entering your zip code in the box at the top of the screen. Good luck to you in whatever you decide to do.
