Question: My son is not yet two but I want to take him to see a pediatric dentist. I currently do not have dental insurance for him. I would like to get some insurance in place before I take him to see Pediatric dentist. Although dental PPO plans say I can go to any dentist I want the cost of dental PPO plans are really just to much for me right now.
Answer: There are dental HMO plans that will cover for plan specialist if refer by their general dentist but they normally will only cover a percentage of the cost for specialist running around 20 to 25 percent. You would need to make sure the plan has a pediatric specialist in their network before buying one and confirm what your saving is under the plan for plan specialist.
Another option would be a dental discount plan. Although you still need to go to network providers you are able to go straight to any specialist and save on average 20 percent.

Question: My son is going to have his wisdom teeth removed. Will be put to sleep during the process? If so, what should I expect when he wakes up? Is dental extractions very painful? What should I have on hand and What is the aftercare ?
Answer: Generally speaking you do got to an oral surgeon to have wisdom teeth removed and you are asleep during the process. Once the teeth are extracted the dentist will gold up some gauze and place it in his mouth over the extraction site. You will be given extra gauze to take home and use as needed.
In most cases before leaving the dental office the dentist will go over the after care instructions as well as give it to you in writing. It will go over what to expect during the recovery and normally a list of dos and don’t.
Any bleeding should slow down and stop with in a few hours of the extraction. You may want him to take it easy the first day and rest. Throughout the first day it is important to keep an icepack on his cheeks near the extraction area. Wisdom teeth extractions are known for causing swelling and his cheeks can blow up for a few days.
Make sure to stick to soft food during the healing process such as soup, Jell-O, yogurt and pudding to name a few.
You should talk to the dentist that will be doing the wisdom teeth extractions ahead of time so you can have the chance to ask all the questions needed. Do not be afraid to ask a dentist any questions you may have this way you can relax a little about the process.

Question: Can a baby just have rotten baby teeth? My sister’s baby is just now cutting his first few baby teeth, yet the teeth that are coming in look rotten. His teeth are grayish white in color. She does not know why this is happening.
Answer: She should take her son to see the dentist. Her baby could have Baby Bottle Tooth Decay. If she lets her son sleep with a baby bottle with anything other then water it can cause tooth decay on baby teeth. This can also happen if you let a baby just have a bottle all day as a pasifer. There is a chance that it is just the color of his teeth since not all teeth are bright white however without seeing a dentist you do not know either way.
