Florida Children teeth care, Braces hurt how to stop the pain

Sunday, Nov. 28th 2010 7:00 AM

My daughter just got her braces on about four weeks ago.  She seem to be fine when the dentist first put them on.  She only has some mild pain.  However today she had her braces adjusted a little and now she saying they are causing her to have more soreness.

She tells me that the Advil is not working.  I did call the dental office and was told that this is pretty normal after an adjustment.  They told me not much can be done she would get use to it over time.   Right now however my daughter is in pain so anyone have any suggestions on what I can do for her?

Soft foods may help her some but whatever you give for pain relief should be find and she will be okay. The adjustment are important as they are what moving the teeth into place.

My son was the same way but I tried not to baby him to much or he would milk it every time. I not saying this is what your daughter is doing but really just have her take it easy and she will be better.

I found that hot tea help some. It is just sore do to the adustment but she should be feeling better in a day or two. If she is still really bad after a few days then take her back to the dentist but this is normal for having braces.
