One way to control your expenses is by having a “predetermination” or “pre-treatment” review. Consumers who are considering an expensive dental treatment are wise to have their dental carrier confirm coverage in advance. Often, dentists’ receptionists are able to do this for patients during their visits. Not only will consumers know in advance what portion of the costs their dental plan will pay, but the carrier or dentist may also be able to recommend less costly options.

Thursday, Jul. 21st 2022 6:43 AM

Dental insurance plans such as PPOs normally have waiting periods before certain dental services are covered under the plan, as well as annual maximum limitations. To avoid avoid exceeding annual maximum benefits or having services before benefits are effective try delaying dental work, if advisable by your dentist.

As part of dental planning, consumers should consult with their dentists and, if possible, delay work that would push costs over what they are covered for by their dental insurance plan. Individual dental insurance plans may work on a calendar year basis or they may be subject to other start and end dates. Consumers should check with specific carriers for details.

Dental Insurance Kids – Types of Dental Insurance Plans

Thursday, Jun. 30th 2022 6:26 AM

HMO and PPO dental insurance plans are the most common types of dental health insurance.   With an HMO plan you will have to pay your entire dental bill if you visit a dentist who is out of network. This is because there is no outside provider coverage and prices for dental services have only be negotiated with the plan providers.

With a PPO plan, you can normally visit an out-of-network dentist, but you may have to pay a higher co-payment and you are at a high risk of UCR (Usual Customary and Reasonable) fees.  Because each dental insurance plan is different, it is essential to understand all the terms of your dental insurance plan prior to scheduling an appointment with a dentist. Be sure to talk to the dental office staff about your individual dental insurance so you will understand what care is covered and what is not.

Keeping cloves in your house is a good dental tip to know. Cloves are one of the best emergency remedy for a toothache. You can rub the clove oil on the tooth or chew the clove. Chew and keep the clove on the affected area for some time and you will get relief soon. Clove releases oil while chewing that gives relief from pain. This is a way to help pain but it does not fix the causing factor. You will need to see your dentist to do that.

Dental Insurance Kids – Dental Insurance For My Two Boys.

Tuesday, Jun. 21st 2022 5:17 AM

I am a signal mom with two minor boys living in California.  I do not have dental insurance though my job so I have to buy something for just my boys.  Family plans are just to  costly right now for me so could I have just my two son on a plan by themselves?

Answer: There are very few insurance companies that will write a plan on a minor only and when they do you have to buy two plan one for each child which at that point would normally be more costly then just buying a family plan.  My suggestion is to review our dental HMO insurance options we provide in California though California dental and Delta Dental. Both options are low cost and run as high as $40.00 a month for a family and a low as $17.00. You can see the cost for HMO dental insurance plan will normally fit into most peoples budgets.

Please call our member service line at 310-534-3444 if you should have any questions about any of our dental insurance plan options available in California.

Answer: Choosing a dental insurance plan that would be right your you and your family would depend on several factors.  Such as if you are trying to stay with your current dental provider or if you have current dental needs that need to be taken care of ASAP.  Such as our dental PPO insurance plans would let you stay with your current dental office, however this type of dental insurance plan normally come with waiting periods that would effect the type of dental services you can have right away. Where as dental HMO plans do not normally have waiting periods for certain dental services but may not let you keep your current dental office if they are not a provider of the plan.

Dental Insurance Kids – Dental Insurance for a Root Canal.

Friday, Jun. 10th 2022 5:08 AM

Hopefully if you need a root canal you already have current dental insurance. However for many that is not the case even though by having dental insurance it will help make having a root canal much more affordable. It may be already too late to buy a dental PPO or Indemnity plan do to their plan waiting periods.

Therefore when reviewing dental HMO insurance plans you want to make sure the plan you are reviewing provides coverage’s for specialist (case you need to get refer to one) and if it does cover for specialist know the coverage amount. In many cases HMO plans that do provide benefits for specialist do so at lower coverage, on average between 20 and 30 percent.

Dental Insurance Kids – Limitations Under and HMO Insurance Plan.

Tuesday, Jun. 7th 2022 5:06 AM

For the most part dental HMO’s insurance plans have fewer limitations then dental PPO’s and Indemnity insurance plans.  Yet, they still have limitations that need to be carefully read and understood before buying.   One such limitation which many people may know is that you have to go to dentists that are providers of the plan.  There  are no benefits if you choose to go to a dentist that is not a provider of an HMO plan.

Generally under an HMO dental insurance plan, coverage’s are based on a fee schedule which shows the cost for all the different dental services that are covered under the plan. Yet the fee schedule that is provided is normally only for the general dentist you picked to be your provider.  The fee schedule is normally not the benefits you receive if you need to be refer to a network specialist.

This is important to understand, since HMO plans will either not cover for specialist or only provide saving of around 20 – 30 percent off network specialist depending on the plan.

Although HMO plans will not normally have a yearly dollar max limitation per person per year they may have limitation on how many of one dental service you can have. You may already know the two cleaning per person per year but many HMO’s insurance plans will only provide benefits up to four to five crowns per person per year.

Dental Insurance Kids – Dental Bridges and Insurance

Tuesday, May. 31st 2022 6:41 AM

If you do not currently have dental insurance and you need a dental bridge, then cost can be a factor.  Buying dental insurance to reduce the cost is a good idea.  However make sure you are buying the right plan for this need.  Normally dental insurance plans such as PPO or Indemnity will have long term waiting periods for dental services such as bridges.

That is important to understand that if you buy these types of dental insurance plans in order to stay with your current dental provider,  you may not have any benefits for the dental service you currently need.  When buying PPO or Indemnity plan it best to think ahead and have it in force prior to any major dental issues.
