Dental Insurance – Cosmetics
Cosmetic dentistry may help you to get your best smile at any age.  One of the most popular cosmetic dental procedures to a perfect smile is bonding.  Cosmetic dental bonding is a fairly painless procedure usually performed in one dental visit by applying an enamel like material to your teeth which is then shaped, hardened with a special light and polished.

For a more dramatic smile, porcelain veneers can make a drastic difference. With veneers, you can control the color, position, shape, and size of your new teeth which can correct crooked, worn, or chipped teeth. This procedure can cost between $1,200 – $3,500 per tooth.

Cosmetic dentistry insurance coverage is not afforded by most dental insurance companies. If you are with a group dental insurance company through your employer, you may want to inquire if cosmetic dentistry insurance coverage is provided under your dental plan.

Cosmetic dental coverage is normally provided by discount dental plans. Discount dental plans usually cover 15 to 20 percent of the cosmetic dental care cost.

Your Dentist and Dental Insurance plans, Options When Choosing a Family Dental Plan.

Tuesday, Feb. 25th 2014 12:18 PM

Tips on shopping out dental insurance and or a dental plan when you already have a dentist you want to stay with.  It can get a little over whelming to shop out dental insurance when you are trying to stay with a dentist.  Many people will get online to find a dental insurance plan,  before even knowing what plans their dentist accepts. Knowing ahead of time what type of dental plans your dental office accepts, will save you time in searching and reviewing dental plans they are not acceptable.

Ask your dental office if they are in network of any dental HMO or dental discount plans.  Since these type of dental plan have not outside net work options.  Therefore if they are not a provider of these types of plans getting one will not work for you.  If they are then find out what plans so you are saving time by just looking  for and reviewing the acceptable plan options. If our dentist is not a provider of any HMO or dental discount plans then your next option would be by getting a Dental PPO plan or a Dental Indemnity insurance plan.  These plans either have no net work of providers or they do allow you to go out side their provider data base.

On these types of plans it is still help to know if your dentist is a provider of a dental PPO plan because inside network coverages can be better then outside net work coverages and know this can be a helpful factor when reviewing dental PPO and Indemnity plans.

Dental Insurance Kids, on Knocked Out Baby Tooth

Friday, Feb. 21st 2014 11:42 AM

When your child needs urgent dental treatment, contact your dental office as soon as possible. If it is a permanent tooth try to find the tooth and/or missing pieces of that tooth to bring to our office. Rinse it gently in cool water if there is debris on it. DO NOT SCRUB IT OR CLEAN IT WITH ANY TYPE OF SOAP!  If your child allows you to do so please try to replace the tooth in their socket and hold it there. You can use a clean gauze or a wash cloth for them to bite on if necessary. If you can’t put the tooth back in the socket, place the tooth in a clean container with milk, saliva, or water. Get to our office immediately. The faster you act, the better your chances of saving the tooth.

Dental Insurance Kids, Two Dnetal Cavities No Money

Wednesday, Feb. 19th 2014 11:41 AM

I know I have two cavities but I have been unable to get them fixed due to lack of money.  I have two kids and lots of bills.  I have no money for extra dental care and the only thing I can get done for free are extractions.  I do not need to pull the teeth.  I only need fillings for them. Where can I go for free dental care for fillings?

Answer: At this time I would suggest looking into getting a low cost Dental HMO insurance plan. HMO plans are not only affordable but they do not normally have any long term waiting periods for basic and major dental care needs.  This is important since you know you are needing to have at least two dental filling done.

Dental Insurance Kids on Space maintainers

Monday, Feb. 17th 2014 11:37 AM

Space maintainers are appliances made of metal or plastic that are custom fit to your child’s mouth. They are small and unobtrusive in appearance. Most children easily adjust to them after the first few days. Space maintainers hold open the empty space left by a lost tooth. They steady the remaining teeth, preventing movement until the permanent tooth takes its natural position in the jaw. It’s more affordable — and easier on your child — to keep teeth in normal positions with a space maintainer than to move them back in place with orthodontic treatment.

What to do to keep healthy teeth

Thursday, Feb. 13th 2014 11:24 AM

One way to maintain health teeth is by eating healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, cheese and milk.  Foods with a lot of sugar are can be bad for teeth. Sugars in food stick to the teeth and bacteria (germs) gather in the sugar and cause plaque. Plaque can melt the surface of teeth and cause decay.

Brushing and flossing teeth keeps your teeth clean and healthy. Brushing and flossing removes  bits of food and plaque. Plaque is germs which can make teeth rot or decay. After each meal is a good time to brush or floss teeth but they should be brushed at least twice each day. Water Drink plenty of water during the day to help wash your teeth.

Buying Dental Insurance When You Have an Abscessed Tooth.

Friday, Feb. 7th 2014 11:52 AM

Lets say you do not have dental insurance, but found out you have a abscessed tooth. The cost of fixing the tooth is too high but you can not delay dental care treatment because you do not want the infection to spread.   Sadly many people do put off buying dental insurance until they are dealing with a dental care need that is costly.

However at times like this you can still buy a dental insurance plan to help you out with your cost.  Yet it is important to understand that you will be limited in the type of dental insurance plan that can help. In this type of situation you will want to review HMO dental insurance plan options. Generally HMO dental insurance plans will not have waiting periods for larger dental care needs. Where as most PPO dental insurance plans will have long term waiting period for major dental services and they will not be the best option for this type of situation.
