Delta Dental California PPO Insurance for Major Dental Needs.

Wednesday, Apr. 26th 2017 6:15 AM

Question: I know I will need some major dental care services. The dentist I want to go to takes only Delta Dental PPO plans. I see that Delta Dental PPO plans have 12 months waiting period for major services. Is there a way not to have the waiting periods?

Answer: Delta Dental like most PPO insurance plans do come with plan waiting periods. Six months for basic services and twelve months for major services which is pretty common waiting periods though some plans may have shorter or even longer waiting periods. We do provide in California one Indemnity plan that would let you choose your own dentist though Madison Nation with a 1000 maximum limitation that does not have any waiting periods but does ten to be more costly then the Delta dental options with the same maximum limitation. However, you may want to review that plan and compare it with our Delta Dental options.

Kids Dental Insurance, Cleaning Your Teeth

Thursday, Apr. 20th 2017 6:02 AM

Throw Away Your Old Tooth Brush

Dental experts say it is a good idea to replace your toothbrush every two to three months.  Dental researchers have discovered that toothbrushes with soft, nylon or polyester bristles with rounded tops do the best job of brushing teeth. You’ll also want to clean between your teeth with dental floss (a special string for cleaning your teeth) at least once a day. Dental floss can help clear food debris and plaque from the spaces between your teeth, where your toothbrush cannot reach.  Dental hygiene is imperative, and cleaning your teeth is the first step toward their long term preservation. Remember, in the long run maintaining your dental care through brushing will ultimately reduce your dental insurance premiums by reducing the amount of dental work the dentist will need to do.

Kids Dental Insurance, Proper Dental Hygiene

Tuesday, Apr. 18th 2017 6:00 AM

By Brushing Your Teeth

There is a right way to brush and floss your teeth.  Knowing how to brush and floss the right way is a big part of good oral health.  Use a soft toothbrush to scrub lightly with a dab of toothpaste, rinse it, and polish it dry with a soft towel.  Brush the outer tooth surfaces, the inner tooth surfaces, and the chewing surfaces of the teeth. The best way to brush your teeth is in little circles  go around and around until you have covered every surface of every tooth.  Brush your tongue to remove bacteria and freshen your breath.  Brushing and flossing precautions: Must be done thoroughly but not too vigorously, as rough movements can irritate or damage sensitive oral tissues.  Brushing your teeth with fluoride toothpaste is your best bet when it comes to keeping your teeth in tip-top shape. A worn toothbrush will not do a good job of cleaning your teeth.

Kids Dental Insurance, Brush Your Teeth Twice a Day

Friday, Apr. 14th 2017 6:59 AM

Removes Plague Build Up

Teeth decay when bacteria and plaque are allowed to build up in the mouth and eat away. Plaque that is not removed with thorough daily brushing and cleaning between teeth can eventually harden into calculus or tartar.   Brushing removes plaque from the tooth surfaces. Brushing your teeth with fluoride toothpaste is your best bet when it comes to keeping your teeth in tip-top shape.   Brush your teeth twice a day, with a soft-bristled brush. Brushing your teeth twice a day can save you hundreds of dollars–sometimes thousands–in dental work.

Cleaning your teeth correctly is important for good health.  Cleaning your teeth is a critical aspect of general hygiene and it also manifests itself in a lot of systemic problems if you do not do it effectively and properly. Teeth that are not properly maintained can lead to gum erosion and pockets of bacteria, eventually destroying teeth and even underlying bone.  Dental health also includes eating a healthy diet to avoid the buildup of acids and plaque that cause tooth decay.

Kids Dental Insurance, PPO Dental Insurance

Thursday, Apr. 6th 2017 6:16 AM

Question: I have this dentist I want to start going to but the office stated that the only accept PPO’s dental insurance plans. What should I know before buying a dental PPO insurance plan.

Answer: Dental PPO insurance plans are great plans for staying with or choosing your own dentist. However, I strongly encourage you to read the plans terms and conditions carefully when buying any PPO dental insurance plan. Generally dental PPO plans have waiting periods for both basic and major dental care services provide only preventive dental care at the effective date of the plan. Under most PPO plans there will be a yearly maximum limitation. A maximum limitation is the dollar amount the insurance company going to pay out for dental care services each year. Also check to see if the plan has a office co-pay (the dollar amount you pay each time just for going to the dentist such as $20.00 co-pay) or a yearly deductible (the dollar amount you pay before the insurance company provides benefits. generally this would be around $50.00 – $75.00)

Kids Dental Insurance, Buying a Dental Plan

Sunday, Apr. 2nd 2017 6:54 AM

Question: I am thinking about buying a dental plan but a few people say buying dental insurance is not worth it. Is that true.

Answer: Our standard answer would be no that is not true. After all we do sell dental insurance as well as dental discount plans. However, sometime when, why and who can have an effect on whether or not you think it is worth buying insurance.

When: When you buy dental insurance is important because depending on the dental insurance plan type you may have to deal with plan waiting periods. You will want to keep that in mind. Plans such as PPO and Indemnity insurance plan will normally have waiting periods. Where as HMO and dental discount plans will normally not have plan waiting periods.

Why: Why you want dental insurance deal with what type of dental care you may need. Again waiting periods come into play. If your current dental needs is just for preventive dental care such as X-ray office visits and cleaning’s you could buy either type of dental plans and be okay. However if you need fillings, crowns, extractions etc., waiting periods will once again come into play with effectiveness.

Who: Who really refers to what dental office you wish to go to for your dental care. If you are wanting to stay with a current dental office then buying dental insurance will depend on what that dental office accepts. Dental plan types such and HMO and Discount plans required you stay in or choose a dentist within their plan network of providers. If the dentist you want to go is not a provider of these types of plans then it limits you to PPO and or Indemnity dental insurance plans in order to stay with said provider.

Go over what you want in an insurance plan and how it can best fit your needs to see if buying one is worth it to you. Our website offers many different plan types and we are here to help. Please call our member service line at 310-534-3444 if you should have any questions about our dental insurance and plan options, we are always happy to help.
