New York Children teeth care, seeing a dentist

Friday, Dec. 10th 2010 10:11 AM

My son is three and I have yet to take him to the dentist.  Some people are getting on me about this saying I should have taken him in much sooner then now.  Heck it not like they are offering to pay the dental bills.

Any way I feel he is find and was going to make him wait to see the dentist until he gets into kindergarten.  After all I am brushing his teeth three times a day and he is getting the brushing down on his own too so in a few more months he will be brushing on his own with out any help form me.  What is the big deal ?  Am I so wrong?

I agree that people tend to give their opinions freely without a thought to the person they are giving it to. However I you are asking them then you should not be upset that they tell you.

Why would anyone offer to pay for your kids dental care? Now if you are not asking and they are getting on your case I guess I can see your point a little more.

With that said I guess you are not going to like my opinon. But agree you should have taken your son to the dentist when he was one. Dental care is more then just cleaning his teeth it is about checking them and making sure they are coming in right that he has good tooth enemal or that he does not have week teeth leaving him open to dental caries.

Waiting until he is five to six years old is just a shame and not very responceable now that is just my thoughts on the subject. He your son and you seem like you will do what you want to anyway.

Well you you floss his teeth? I bet not. You need to take a child to see a dentist between the time they first cut their first tooth till one one and half years old the lastest.

If you think that brushing is all you need to do to have good teeth you would be wrong. If you were my family member I would be getting on your case too. After all it is the child that is important. If you can not afford to take your child to see health care provider wheather it is teeth or something else maybe you should have though better about having one.

I can tell by your attitude that you feel eveyone else should be paying for you. Grow up and be a parent. I lost count of how many times I did without for myself so my son would not go with out things he needs for a good medical and health care.

Hey I can under stand lack of money if that is really the issue here. I think at three you should take him to see a dentist and that five or six years old is a long time to wait.

However I am not your wallet nor your bank so I can not judge you on what you feel you can afford to do. If you feel you are taking really good care of his teeth and he is not having an teeth issues people should not be getting on you back. Unless they are offering you help they should keep their mouth closed.

Just in case you do not know you may want too look into getting a dental discount plan or a low cost HMO dental insurance plan. They are both good dental care plans that will help you save money.

You may even want to look into seeing if their any dental clinics as a low cost dental care option.

I did not take my daughter to the dentist the first time until she was four. She was okay and had no teeth issues but she was my frist child and I did not think I needed to take her sooner either.

When I had my son I read much more on line about children oral health care and really feel lucky my daughter did not have any problems with her teeth. With my son he went to the dentist when he was one.

There is just so much that can happen even if you are taking good care of your child teeth. And if that happens you will have much high dental cost then just the preventive care.
