Kids Dental care, chipped tooth

Monday, Sep. 27th 2010 7:33 AM

My daughter just chipped her front tooth.  Not sure what to do about it.  She is seven so it is only a baby tooth.  I try to see if it was loose but it seems find to me other then a little chip in the corner.  I do not have dental insurance but that is not to much of an issue I am not sure if she really needs to see a dentist about this or not.

I think you should take her to see a dentist just to make sure the tooth is not lose. It is not good to lose baby teeth too soon. If she does she will need a space maintainer.

I would not make a big deal about it. Just keep an eye on it. It is just a baby tooth so a little chip will not hurt her. Baby teeth come out anyway. If you had dental insurance with the office visit and check up was free there would be no reason not to go. However since you do not do what you feel is best for you

My suggestion is to get your family some low cost dental insurance plan. You to not have to get a PPO dental insurance plan if you can not afford it but even a good HMO dental plan would be helpful for you.

If you had one seeing a dentist right now would not be an issue. You just take your daughter in. Since you have nothing now you can get dental insurance then take your daughter to see a dentist or pay cash for your daughter to see a dentist and then get dental insurance for an future dental needs.

I do not think you should wait in taking your daughter to see a dentist. Baby tooth or not it is chipped and now more open to tooth decay. Also it is not good to lose baby teeth too soon due to an accident.

For sure doing nothing may not be the best idea if it is about money. Since a small issue will only get bigger if nothing is done.
