Kids dental care, Do dental wipes really work for new borns

Sunday, Jul. 11th 2010 7:14 AM

My son is only two months old.  So right now he does not have any teeth.  My doctor told me I still need to wipe my son gums after each feeding so that he does not have extra milk in his mouth.  Then when he gets his teeth in I should take him to see a dentist.

So I have been doing as suggested to me by my doctor.  My friend told me about dental wipes and that is what she uses to clean her daughter teeth.  She said they work just like brushing but are easier to use when you are dealing with an infant.  I though you just brush the teeth when the start to come in.  Are dental wipes just as good?

I used dental wipes on my children teeth until they were almost two. They really work well for me. I was always on the go so having the dental wipes as a quick way to clean their teeth after nursing work great.

Try then out and see how you like them. I know people that when right to a baby tooth brush. But then their kids did not mind her using a tooth brush where other do.

My son was find with me using the dental wipes however it was my daughter that I had to use a finger brush on. At least until they were older to use a baby tooth brush own their own with me only having to supervise them.

Really it is just a matter of choice. You may or may not like them. Over all yes I do think they work as long as you use them right after your child is done feeding.

With my son I use this little rubber finger brush for his teeth. I wanted him to be use to having his teeth brushed. He was brushing on his own when he was not quite two.

Well I was watching him until I was sure he was brushing correctly. He has been blessed with good teeth and so far has not had any cavities.

However I do not give him to may sweets and he does brush after every major meal. I suggest seeing the dentist as soon as your child cuts their first few teeth.

Not that the dentist does much. But having a dentist your child know from the start will make going to them in the future much easier. At least that is how things worked out for my family.
